I'm slightly amazed that the organizers of the 2000 Sydney Olympics allowed this to be played at the closing ceremonies, given how critical this is of Australian policies to the native people of Australia.

A fairly straight-ahead traditional jazz tune by Chick Corea, with an astounding set of chord changes. Back in high school, I needed my piano teacher, who now is a pianist for an opera company in Europe, to help me understand how complex they were. A lot of awesomeness here, especially Steve Gadd's drumming.

A slightly different take from me - Johnny Cash covering Depeche Mode. He found the carnival barker seductive lure that underlies the heart of these lyrics. I love how he covered '80s and '90s music - his style fleshed out a grittiness that was often inherent in what what was written, but not quite entirely realized, by the original artists.
